“I have met with these brave fighters, and they are not Al-Qaeda. To the contrary: They are Libyan patriots who want to liberate their nation. We should help them do it.” - Senator John McCain in Benghazi, Libya April 22, 2011.

Image: And yet, the very courthouse McCain uttered his lies in front of is now flying the flag of Al Qaeda, while crowds have been photographed in the streets of Benghazi carrying it aloft since the fall of Qaddafi. Clearly, the senator from Arizona was “mistaken.”
….

Even as McCain deceived the world with his comments in pursuit of overthrowing and destroying the sovereign nation-state of Libya, it was already a matter of record, according to America’s own West Point Combating Terrorism Center, that Benghazi, and much of eastern Libya known as Cyrenaica, served as an epicenter for global Al Qaeda recruitment. Militants hailing from the eastern region’s Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) would end up in both Afghanistan and Iraq fighting Western troops and participating in sectarian violence...

Current news on the Syrian Front and Middle East

Whats new? Well reports of more foreign weapons seizures along with actual admissions from the Free Syrian Army and rebels to receiving U.S. and Israeli weapons. Syrian border agents are apprehending fighters and weapons along the border used to create causalities and instability. Note that the most areas of fighting against the Syrian regime are all along the border of Syria, it doesn`t take a rocket scientist to note that weapons and fighter flowing in are used to set up base at the border towns. Just try to think of Libya and where the 'so-called revolution' took place - the east in Benghazi along the coast and accessible by nearby border crossings and water.

Now echoing the mantra of 'protecting civilians' like in Libya `s case, our senator - John McCain publicly called for airstrikes without UN approval. He really must have spent a lot of time in the bog when we was a POW in Vietnam. Really airstrikes in Syria, then what? Leave it to the wolves and NATO to turn it into another Libya? If he cares so much for protecting civilians, then why doesn`t he voice concern for the the people of Bahrain who are getting massacred with no media coverage or the protesters in eastern Saudi Arabia and Yemen?

Speaking of Yemen, look at the hypocrisy in Yemen, Saleh and his cronies were given immunity for crimes against humanity in exchange for transferring power to an un-contested 'democratic' government while the powerful military remains in his family`s hands, so what really has this false 'Arab Spring' accomplished, nothing its just s whitewash and sands over your eyes.

The former presidential candidate (R-AZ) becomes the first senator to publicly call for a US-led military strike on Syria in order to halt the nearly year-long conflict there.

Draft copies of McCain's speech, obtained by Foreign policy magazine, have him telling the Senate that “After a year of bloodshed, the crisis in Syria has reached a decisive moment." He talks at length about the Bashar Assad government, and says that the only realistic way to preserve “innocent lives … is with foreign airpower.

The Arizona senator points out that President Barack Obama characterized the prevention of mass atrocities as "a core national security interest" when speaking about Libya, and has committed the credibility of the United States to his repeated calls for Assad to step down.

“If Assad manages to cling to power – or even if he manages to sustain his slaughter for months to come, with all of the human and geopolitical costs that entails – it would be a strategic and moral defeat for the United States. We cannot, we must not, allow this to happen," McCain says.
