US fomented 1953 coup to control Iran oil: William Beeman
Press TV
Aug 20, 2013
Press TV has conducted an interview with William Beeman, professor at University of Minnesota, about the US Central Intelligence Agency declassifying a document that confirms Washington’s role in the 1953 coup against the democratically-elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq.
What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.
Press TV: The released documents say the aim of the CIA operation was to cause the Mosaddeq government to fall. Just why did the CIA want to depose Mosaddeq?
Beeman: There were two reasons. The first reason had to do with the nationalization of oil. The United States and Great Britain were going to lose millions of dollars plus access to oil when the National Iranian Oil Company was nationalized by Mosaddeq.
Though the second reason is, however, for the United States. The United States was afraid and continued to be afraid all the way through the Carter administration that somehow Russia or the Soviet Union was going to invade Iran and push down to the Persian Gulf and gain a warm water port.
So the United States had to look right after World War II to the Soviet attempts to set up puppet states in Kurdistan and Azerbaijan and they were afraid that Mosaddeq was too weak to be able to withstand any kind of Soviet pressure.
So those were the two big reasons. One was control of oil and one was fear of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Press TV: Even now, the US government continues to allocate an annual budget for covert operations in Iran. How different are Washington’s aims today?
Beeman: Well they are a little bit different because there is no more Soviet Union. But there is no question that the United States is attempting to try to control politics within the Middle East.
There is still a faction within Washington that continually want regime change in Iran and there is also no question that the United States would like very much to have some kind of control over the petroleum market in Iran.
In this regard, the fear that Iran is somehow a danger to Israel is merely a way of trying to sell US interference in Iran to the rest of the world.

The REAL obstacle to peace in Palestine and Israel
Ehud Olmert: Right-wing Americans thwarted Israeli-Palestinian peace accord
In interview with CNN, former Prime Minister says time for a two-state solution is running out.
HAARETZ
May 5, 2012
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert tells CNN that right-wing extremists from the United States toppled his government with “millions and millions of dollars” in order to thwart his attempt to reach a lasting peace agreement with the Palestinians.
In the interview Olmert gave CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that aired on Friday, Olmert said that his peace plan was supported by a majority of Israelis and that it could have been, and still can be, implemented were it not for “superior powers” in the U.S. which he would not name.
Olmert told Amanpour that he was working toward a peace agreement in 2008, knowing that this would mean handing over East Jerusalem to the Palestinians. “But I had to fight against superior powers, including millions and millions of dollars that were transferred from this country (the U.S.) by figures which were from the extreme right wing, that were aimed to topple me as Prime Minister of Israel. There is no question about it.”
Amanpour asked Olmert if there is still time for a two-state solution “There is time,” Olmert answered, “but time is running out.”
Olmert acknowledged that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas never said yes to his 2008 proposal, but also insists that “he never said no.”
“So why not reintroduce this plan again,” asked Olmert, “and present the challenge to the Palestinians?”
Olmert criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dealings with the Palestinians, saying, “The fact is that we don’t negotiate with the Palestinians, and the fact is that we have not proposed anything.”
When asked if Netanyahu will seek such a peace, Olmert said, “I certainly pray that he will,” adding “I doubt that he will.”
"Peace is important for Israel,” insisted Olmert. “We want peace. We need peace. We want to separate from the Palestinians. We don’t want to control the life of the Palestinians. We want them to have their own separate state.”
The first part of the former prime minister's CNN interview was released on Monday, in which he said Israel could take part in a possible military strike on Iran, but should not lead it.

Qatar becoming a new force to be reckoned with: Opens new Interbank Rate, competition to the LIBOR?
Qatar Opens Interbank Rate: Now Most Important Little Country in Middle East?

Bloomberg and Qatar Central Bank Launch Interbank Rate … QIBOR will enhance transparency and promote liquidity … Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Bloomberg LP are partnering to launch the first ever Qatar Interbank Offer Rate (QIBOR) fixings in a move aimed at encouraging a more active interbank market in Qatar, executives announced today … HE Sheikh Abdulla Saoud Al Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank, commented, “In establishing the first-ever benchmark interbank rate in Qatar it was vital that we worked with a partner with deep expertise and credibility in this area. Bloomberg is the market leader for financial data and extending our relationship with them will help position Qatar as a growing force in the global financial markets.” –SunHerald (5/2/12)
Here we go again. Just when we thought little Qatar couldn’t grow any mightier, the country’s financial officials are going to help establish an Interbank Offer Rate for the world’s top banks (QIBOR).
Qatar will be helped in this process by the powerful, elitist, financial media firm “Bloomberg LP,” run by its eponymous owner and Mayor of New York … Michael Bloomberg.
More from the article, above: “Interbank rate fixings are used around the world to provide a daily reference point for banks borrowing unsecured funds from other banks in the local wholesale banking market and this announcement brings Qatar into that market for the first time.”
How big is the market? Estimates range up to US$90 trillion! (That’s the amount of money that QIBOR can affect.)
This is a market that’s ripe for the plucking, given the controversy around the London bank rate (LIBOR). The LIBOR market has been hit by allegations that bank rates were not estimated honestly but were essentially “fixed” in a way that allowed participants to solicit speculative offers against them – that might then lose those speculators money.
Little Tyke to Mighty Player
The planned QIBOR is just one more sign of Qatar’s growing influence in the Middle East. Here are some others:
• Sources say that Qatar’s small but highly-supplied and Westernized army was instrumental in the Libyan war and that about 5,000 Qatar troops are helping run Libya even now. This is a well-kept secret.
• Qatar’s Al Jazeera news station is as ubiquitous in the Middle East as CNN is in the US, Europe and South America. In fact, the two media firms function in tandem – spreading Western propaganda with skill and finesse.
• Qatar is an essential ally of NATO and the US when it comes to a huge military base situated there that the US used to launch its second invasion into Iraq.
• Qatar recently won the right to host the 2022 World Cup and is using the situation to raise its profile as sports-center within both the Middle East and Europe.
Additionally, Qatar’s ruling group is oriented around the Saud family’s fundamentalist-Islamic Wahhabism. The rising influence of little Qatar under Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani is partially being managed by a larger, westernized global elite that placed Al Thani on the throne decades ago.
As has been pointed out many times, this global elite is seemingly creating world government via thesis, antithesis … synthesis. The “synthesis” in this case is supposed to be an amalgamation of East (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, etc.) and the West.
But before the synthesis can take place, opposites must be established. That’s what is still going on now. Via war to destabilize the Middle East’s secular governments, the elites are creating an Islamic crescent out of Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, etc.
These same elites are using little Qatar as a base to expand a worldwide Islamic presence. They are in a sense bankrolling Islam to turn it into a true modern force.
Once a (controlled) Islam is regnant, as it used to be, Western elites will likely force a synthesis out of the two opposing religious forces (east and west) that will change the face of finance globally.
The goal seems to be to make a world economy far more viable for the billions of Muslims who have no such expectations or ambitions currently.
Little Qatar has apparently emerged at the center of the world-spanning globalist conspiracy!
The evidence is becoming increasingly clear. Qatar’s amalgamam of wicked (Western sponsored) Wahhabism plus the noxious emergent brew of international sports, high finance and faux Middle Eastern journalism all put it at the foul center of this larger elite strategy.
Qatar’s little-known role as a facilitator of Libya’s recent military evisceration plus its evident position at the center of the projection of NATO and US military power make it a country to watch closely.
Now the powers-that-be are busy turning it into a financial center as well. This was to be the role of the Arab Emirates, especially Dubai – but these rulers have not proven effective, at least not yet.
Enter Qatar – or rather, re-enter Qatar with an even higher profile, one that bears watching for those who are convinced that world government is being planned and that a Westernized Middle East is key to the furtherance of this insatiable ambition.
A final thought: Nothing likely happens by accident when it comes to these global elites. If LIBOR is under attack, it is not merely a coincidence but a way of destroying LIBOR in order to transfer the facility to the Middle East.
Criminal indictments are produced … directed history is manifest. Believable? One could argue that Rupert Murdoch’s media empire is being deliberately taken apart for similar reasons.
The gravity of the world is shifting east?

US warns Iran: 'Agree to talks or be bombed,' but the case for war seems set, not a "matter of if but when"

The United States has asked Russia to deliver an ultimatum to Iran, warning the Islamic Republic that it has one last chance for talks before a military strike, the Kommersant daily quoted Russian diplomats as saying on Wednesday.
The report in Kommersant did not give further details regarding the kind of military action the U.S. was threatening, but quoted Russian diplomats at the UN as saying they believe that it is a "matter of when, not if" Israel would strike Iran's nuclear facilities.

Last week, Clinton said that there is still space for diplomacy to resolve Iran's nuclear standoff with the West shortly after European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton announced that the P5+1 group agreed to restart talks with Iran. A time and venue of the talks has yet to be set.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a series of television interviews, said last week that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities could take place within months.
"We're not standing with a stopwatch in hand," he said. "It's not a matter of days or weeks, but also not of years. The result must be removal of the threat of nuclear weapons in Iran's hands."
Netanyahu met with U.S. President Barack Obama last week and tried to pressure him to harden his tone on Iran.
Netanyahu told Obama that he had not yet made any decision about whether to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, though he made it clear he did not rule out such a move in the future. In statements to the press both before and after the meeting Netanyahu said Israel has the sovereign right to defend itself against Iran.

President Obama and the impending Middle-East wars

Imagine the potential catastrophic consequences, especially if nuclear weapons are used. They were before. Why not now. The prospect’s chilling.
In his Der Ring des Nibelungen operas (the Ring), Richard Wagner portrayed his apocalyptic version musically. Gotterdammerung (Twilight of the Gods) prophesied the end of the world.
Einstein suggested it, saying he didn’t know what WW III weapons would be used, “but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
Around the same time, Bertrand Russell warned:
“Shall we put an end to the human race, or shall mankind renounce war” and live in peace. The stark choice is clear. The wrong one suggests consequences too grim to imagine.
It’s terrifying to imagine nuclear bunker-buster bombs used against underground targets. Whatever the physical damage, irradiating vast areas could kill millions, and set a precedent to keep using them like king-sized hand grenades.
A 13,600-kilogram bunker-buster’s being developed. Called “the massive ordnance penetrator,” allegedly it can smash through 65 meters of reinforced concrete before detonating.
Defense Secretary Panetta said work on an array of military options are being considered if sanctions don’t curb Iran’s nuclear program. He added they’ve been underway “a long time,” and Washington’s “weighing all of the ramifications of how best to deal with Iran.”
It’s hard imagining the mindset of hawkish policy makers. Grave consequences aren’t considered, let alone waging permanent wars against nonbelligerent countries threatening no one.
Yet Obama’s fulfilling Dick Cheney’s promise about wars not ending in our lifetime. Former CIA Director James Woolsey said America’s “engaged in World War IV, and it could continue for years….This fourth world war, I think, will last considerably longer than either World Wars I or II did for us.”
In his September 11, 1990 joint session of Congress speech, GHW Bush called it a “New World Order” ahead of Operation Desert Storm.
In its 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), the Pentagon called it the “long war.” It rages daily for unchallenged world dominance, no matter the potentially devastating consequences...

Russia upgrades its 'eyes & ears' in Middle East
Russia upgrades Syria-based electronic station to warn Iran of US/Israeli attack
DEBKAfile Special Report
February 27, 2012, 11:09 AM (GMT+02:00)
The Russians have upgraded their Jabal Al Harrah electronic and surveillance station south of Damascus opposite Israel’s Sea of Galilee, adding resources especially tailored to give Tehran early warning of an oncoming US or Israeli attack, DEBKAfile’s US military sources report.
Before it was boosted by extra advanced technology and manpower, the station covered civilian and military movements in northern Israel up to Tel Aviv, northern Jordan and western Iraq. Today, its range extends to all parts of Israel and Jordan, the Gulf of Aqaba and northern Saudi Arabia.
Part two of Moscow’s project for extending the range of its Middle East ears and eyes consisted of upgrading the Russian-equipped Syrian radar stationed on Lebanon’s Mount Sannine and connecting it to the Jabal Al Harrah facility in Syria. Russian technicians have completed this project too. Russia is now able to additionally track US and Israeli naval and aerial movements in the Eastern Mediterranean up to and including Cyprus and Greece.
According to our sources, the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kutznetsov’s stay at the Syrian port of Tartus through most of January and up to mid-February had the special mission of keeping an eye out for any Israeli preparations for attacking Iran, Syria or Hizballah. It filled the gap left by the Russian station south of Damascus which was fully occupied with feeding data on Syrian opposition movements to Bashar Assad and watching out for signs of foreign intervention, military or covert, against his regime.
The Russian vessel meanwhile followed increased traffic of US drone over Syria keeping track of the Syrian arsenal of missiles with chemical, biological and nerve gas warheads.
Washington disclosed on Feb. 25 that the US State Department had sent out warnings to six countries, Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq, to beware of these deadly weapons. It was not clear whether the warning referred to a possible Assad regime’s decision to use WMD against those nations or the danger of their transfer to terrorists embedded within those countries.
Moscow decided to boost its radar tracking and surveillance reach for Iran’s benefit in response to a complaint from Tehran that it could not longer count on Russia for a real-time alert on an incoming US or Israeli military strike, because those resources were stretched to the limit in support of the Assad regime.
After expanding and upgrading their range to meet Iranian needs by interconnecting the two stations and adding extra Russian manpower, Moscow ordered the Admiral Kutznetsov to depart Tartus on Feb. 13 and sail to home port at Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula. The Russian stations in Syria and Lebanon were by then ready for their expanded missions.

WW III Defined: Much Wider War Unfolding in the Middle East
Infowars
June 23, 2011
June 23, 2011
It's time to identify the unfolding Middle East crisis for what it is-- a wider world war. Alex Jones analyzes the more than nine years of expanding middle east conflict since 9/11, with the U.S. now engaging in 5 simultaneous proxy wars including Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan and Yemen.
Tensions with Syria, Russia, China and other players may further fan the flames in the region, as top globalists, including Bilderberg attendees, have announced their intention to put ground troops in Libya and kick-off a "big war" encompassing much of Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Despite opposition to the wars in U.S. Congress and throughout the NATO alliance, the Nobel Peace President will continue to try and save face as he escalates deadly conflict on behalf of his masters under a "humanitarian" pretext. The elites have craftily planted the seeds of chaos under the guise of the "Arab Spring" they helped fund and organize, which is now blossoming into an all-out war that could draw in major powers and proxy regimes alike.
