I learned something today.

Again.

This is dunya. Dunya. Not a place of ease. Only glitter.

The place where you have to feel cold and hungry.

The place where you have to worry and feel scared.

The place where it gets cold.

So cold, sometimes.

The place where you have to leave the people you love.

Where you can’t get attached, because even if you do, it doesn’t make it stay, it just makes it hurt when it doesn’t.

The place where happiness and sadness are only players, waiting for their next line in a play…

-Isn`t this the case today? We all too well forget those who passed on and buried with our own hands while engaging in this life`s deceit and deception, forgetting how fragile and short while this life is...yet we plan for it, fight over it, hoard it and for what? What parts of this world, this dunya to we take with us to the grave and to the good Lord? Do we line our graves like Egyptian pharaohs for the afterlife? No, all we take as Muslims is the 2 kuffans (the burial shroud) and thats it. Where`s all the millions you hoarded, all the riches, the cars, iphones, apple products, designer clothes, houses, food...etc? Where are they now to help you in the grave? -RSA

Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full [the wages of] their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein. They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do.

470. Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "This world is the prison of the believer and the paradise of the unbeliever." [Muslim]

471. Ibn 'Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, took hold of my shoulders and said, 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveller on the road.' Ibn 'Umar used to say, 'In the evening, do not anticipate the morning, and in the morning do not anticipate the evening. Take from your health for your illness and from your life for your death." [al-Bukhari]

For those 'distracted' by this worldly life

"Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deceived them." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our Ayat (verses). [Sura Al-Araf 7:51]

The vast emptiness of being alone...

Never have I felt this alone, this vast emptiness, this distant, a cast off with mortal danger at every turn from the very people you give your heart out to. It is a shame, the very same people instigate, mitigate, slander & plot against you for your downfall when in fact you pray for all their well-being. It is the selfish nature of man to always receive and receive but never to give one iota. Truly as the great Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, we are certainly the ghuraba (the strangers) to the disbelievers, so we must distance our selves from the rest.

As Ibrahim al-Nakha`i said, “Those who were destroyed before you were destroyed due to three traits – excess in speech, excess in food, and excess in sleep.”

Ya Wadud! ~ Oh Beloved, make the veils on my heart to vanish, hear my cry and open my heart with Your Light. Oh You Who loves those whose hearts are broken for Your sake ~ You are Allah, Our Lord. (RSA)

This dunya (this world) is the devil`s intoxicant

Yahya Ibn Mu’aadh Ar-Raazee stated: “This worldly life is the Devil’s intoxicant (Khamr). Whoever is intoxicated by it will not regain consciousness until they are in the ranks of the dead, in a state of regret, among the losers.”  In the book ‘Uddah As-Saabireen of Al-Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, p. 349, Daar Ibn Al-Jawzee.

Ibn Al-Qayyim said in the same book, “The intoxicating effect of loving this world is far more potent than the intoxication that results from drinking alcohol by a long way. The one who is intoxicated by this will not gain his senses until he is in the darkness of his grave, and [if he regains his senses] and the effects of this cease while he is living then he will surely appreciate the extent of intoxication that this worldly life can cause and that it is more severe than alcohol…” (p. 349)

The glamorous attractions of the youth - state of our modern society and Muslim Ummah

The youth follow the ways of no success, and this is what they are attracted to - the glamour of this temporary life. "Befriend someone that will give you benefit, befriend somebody that will do you some good. Which basis do we choose our friends. Are we cautious who we take as friends?" [Abdul Majid]
