Mutant animal discovered in Ukraine. Is it the fabled 'Chupacabra' or an experiment gone wrong?
Fabled 'Chupacabra' or mutant fox poisoned by radiation? Hunters baffled by dog-like animal found in former Soviet republic
Mythical beast - named 'goat sucker' in Spanish because of its carnivorous diet - is thought to have been discovered in remotest Ukraine

Vets in Ukraine are struggling to identify a 'mutant' animal shot by hunters in a remote area of the former Soviet republic.
Locals say it is a mystery 'Chupacabra' - allegedly sighted a few times in recent years - that preys on rabbits, goats and house animals.
Grey in colour and with ‘fangs’ and a longish neck, it has shorter front legs, slightly resembling a kangaroo, while also showing a likeness to a dog and a fox, say those who have seen it.
There were claims that it could be a 'mutant' fox poisoned by radiation, while another theory was that it maybe a hybrid originating from a Soviet plant conducting tests on animals relating to chemical or biological weapons development.
‘A creature we were not supposed to see has escaped from a secret defence lab,’ said one comment.
‘The animal doesn't look like a fox or a wolf, or a raccoon,’ Mikhail Ilchenko, deputy head of the district veterinary service in Mikhailovskoe, told Komsomolskaya Pravda, Ukraine.
‘It cannot even be a marten. I have never seen such animal before. But, judging by the fangs, I can definitely say that it is a predator.’
Local vets took the skinny, short-haired creature to the Zoological Museum of Zaporozhye National University.
‘There is something common with a fox, and a dog,’ said director Alexander Korotya...

Is the new Axe ad featuring 'headless breasts' sexist? You decide
Axe ad featuring headless breasts because 'they are what a man notices first on a woman' branded 'sexist' by female viewers
By TAMARA ABRAHAM

A television commercial for Axe has been branded 'sexist' because the female character in the ad is depicted as a headless pair of breasts on legs.
Designed to promote a men's hair product, the concept of the ad, set in an office, is based on the idea that men notice breasts first on a women, while women notice a man's hair before anything else.
In turn, the male character, who admires his amply-chested co-worker from afar, is a thick head of hair on legs.

But the ad, though intended to be humorous, has prompted a backlash from viewers, who consider it to be sexist.
One Twitter user, Hilary Paige Smith, wrote: 'Once again, another appalling display of terrible, sexist marketing from Axe. Don't date guys who smell/act like this.'
And Katherine Vong, of Trendhunter, added: 'Axe has once again turned to stereotypes and gender biases with its latest Axe Office Love commercial, which essentially represents females as a giant pair of breasts, no head required.'
Others, though, see the humour in the concept.
AdRants writer Steve Hall said: 'All the brand has done, and always has done, is celebrate the carnal desire that is ever present between man and woman. It's an innately human desire. It's a fact of life.'

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will make his first overseas visit next week by attending a summit attended by 40 world leaders in Iran.
Kim will attend a Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran which is scheduled for August 26 - 31.
As reported by NBC News, It is his first foreign trip since taking over following his father's death in December.
Despite encouraging signs in recent months that he might reform strict social and economic structures in North Korea, his visit to Iran suggests he is not prepared to alter North Korea's foreign policy.
The Non-Aligned Movement is a group of countries which do not formally consider themselves aligned with a major power bloc.
It was founded in 1961 at the height of the Cold War by countries which did not want to side with NATO or the Warsaw Pact Nations.

Mars Curiosity rover starts first drive on Martian planet
This 360-degree panorama shows evidence of a successful first test drive for NASA's Curiosity rover. On Aug. 22, 2012, the rover made its first move, going forward about 15 feet (4.5 meters), rotating 120 degrees and then reversing about 8 feet (2.5 meters). Curiosity is about 20 feet (6 meters) from its landing site, now named Bradbury Landing.
Visible in the image are the rover's first track marks. A small 3.5-inch (9-centimeter) rock can be seen where the drive began, which engineers say was partially under one of the rear wheels. Scour marks left by the rover's descent stage during landing can be seen to the left and right of the wheel tracks. The lower slopes of Mount Sharp are visible at the top of the picture, near the center.

PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has begun driving from its landing site, which scientists announced today they have named for the late author Ray Bradbury.
Making its first movement on the Martian surface, Curiosity's drive combined forward, turn and reverse segments. This placed the rover roughly 20 feet (6 meters) from the spot where it landed 16 days ago.
NASA has approved the Curiosity science team's choice to name the landing ground for the influential author, who was born 92 years ago today and died this year. The location where Curiosity touched down is now called Bradbury Landing.

"We have a fully functioning mobility system with lots of amazing exploration ahead," Heverly said.
Curiosity will spend several more days of working beside Bradbury Landing, performing instrument checks and studying the surroundings, before embarking toward its first driving destination approximately 1,300 feet (400 meters) to the east-southeast.
"Curiosity is a much more complex vehicle than earlier Mars rovers. The testing and characterization activities during the initial weeks of the mission lay important groundwork for operating our precious national resource with appropriate care," said Curiosity Project Manager Pete Theisinger of JPL. "Sixteen days in, we are making excellent progress."
The science team has begun pointing instruments on the rover's mast for investigating specific targets of interest near and far. The Chemistry and Camera (ChemCam) instrument used a laser...

Death - why fear it? (Poem)
Mariam Deeb (@MariamDeeb)
Posted Monday 20th August 2012 from Twitlonger
A BEAUTIFUL poem about death, by an amazing poet (@somalianicon), masha'Allah. May Allah bless him and increase him in his talent!
Why fear death?
Death is a blessing in disguise
Today’s culture portrays unimportant things
Take a couple eye drops; if that’s what opens your eyes
Open your eyes and realize
So it’s the culture you’re trying to survive?
Death is the truth; don’t hide it
Don’t put it in a box and think outside it
False guidance leaves you close-minded
You see..
Accepting death makes you more human
But being human doesn’t make you cool? Huh?
You see..
People wanna chase temporary greens
Others wanna pursue their dreams
But being yourself should be your first priority
Don’t put death on a shelf
Death is a blessing itself
Stop chasing wealth
Start increasing a mentally good health
Till it’s too late, then you’ll feel ashamed to ask for help
Don’t put death in a box
Cause eventually it will just break the locks
It’ll come to you at a night when you’re just in bed
Next morning you wake up and can’t even feel your head
A couple days later, you’re the next one dead
Learn to be genuine, before you take your last breath
The beauty we men seek and the REAL beauty we often ignore
Men desire beauty in a woman but they admire modesty. Beauty fades but character stays. After a while the most beautiful woman looks average, but the pious increase in beauty each day.

Singing and music are two tools of Shataan used to ruin the hearts of humans and destroy their souls.
Singing and music
Singing and music are two tools of Satan that are used to ruin the heart of the human and to destroy his soul.
Ibn al-Qayyim has written that from the machinations of the enemy of Allah and snares that he uses on those who are lacking in knowledge, intelligence and religion and by which he traps the hearts of the ignorant and foolish is by listening to clapping, whistling and singing to forbidden instruments that take the hearts away from the Quran and make them addicted to sins and lewdness.
This is the Quran (reciting) of Satan and it keeps one from the Quran of the Merciful. It is the chant of the homosexuals and adulterers. Satan is able to deceive the wrongful souls by it. He makes it look good to them by way of deception. He inspires them with false thoughts to consider it something good.
They accept his guidance and, therefore, neglect and avoid the Quran.
One of the strangest phenomena is people using music and singing as a type of worship or a way of getting closer to Allah while at the same time they leave the recital of the Merciful for the recital of Satan.
Ibn al-Qayyim listed the following as terms used for such music: useless amusement, nonsense, futility, false speech, the invocation of adultery, the recital of Satan, the planting of hypocrisy in the heart, the sound of the foolish, the sound of the evil-doer, the sound of Satan and the psalms of Satan.

Mars rover Curiosity zaps it`s first Martian rock with a laser
Let's hope no Martians are watching! Nasa's Curiosity vapourises part of the nearest rock with a laser
By MARK PRIGG

PUBLISHED: 20 August 2012
The Mars rover Curiosity zapped its first rock on Sunday with a high-powered laser gun designed to analyze Martian mineral content, and scientists declared their target practice a success.
The robotic science lab aimed its laser beam at the fist-sized stone nearby and shot the rock with 30 pulses over a 10-second period, NASA said in a statement issued from mission control at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Los Angeles.
Each pulse delivers more than 1 million watts of energy for about five one-billionths of a second, vapourising a pinhead-sized bit of the rock to create a tiny spark, which is analyzed by a small telescope mounted on the instrument.
The ionized glow, which can be observed and recorded from up to 25 feet away, is then split into its component wavelengths by three spectrometers that give scientists information about the chemical makeup of the target rock.
The combined system, called the Chemistry-and-Camera instrument, or ChemCam, is capable of discerning more than 6,000 different wavelengths in the ultraviolet, infrared and visible light spectrum and is designed to take about 14,000 measurements throughout Curiosity's Mars mission.
The purpose of Sunday's initial use of the laser, conducted at roughly 3 a.m. Pacific time (7.00 a.m. EDT), was as 'target practice' for the instrument.
But scientists will examine the data they receive to determine composition of the rock, which they dubbed 'Coronation,' NASA said.
'We got a great spectrum of Coronation - lots of signal,' said ChemCam principal investigator Roger Wiens of the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, where the instrument was developed.
'After eight years of building the instrument, it's payoff time.'
Curiosity, a one-ton, six-wheeled vehicle the size of a compact car, landed inside a vast, ancient impact crater near Mars' equator on August 6 after an eight-month, 354-million-mile voyage through space.
Its two-year mission is aimed at determining whether or not the planet most like Earth could have hosted microbial life.
The rover's primary target is Mount Sharp, a towering mound of layered rock rising from the floor of Gale Crater. But mission controllers are gradually checking out Curiosity's sophisticated array of instruments before sending it on its first road trip across the Martian landscape.
The $2.5 billion Curiosity project marks NASA's first astrobiology mission since the Viking probes to Mars during the 1970s and the most advanced robotic science lab sent to another world.
The technique employed by ChemCam has been used to examine the composition of materials in other extreme environments, such as inside nuclear reactors and on the sea floor.
The technology also has experimental applications in environmental monitoring and cancer detection.
But Sunday's exercise, conducted during Curiosity's 13th full day on Mars, was the first use in interplanetary exploration, NASA said...

Is bikini waxing a health hazard? Might leave you prone to infections and STD`s!
- Hair removal creates 'open wounds that are vulnerable to serious infection' warns medical expert
- 'Some clinicians are finding that freshly-shaved pubic areas and genitals are also more vulnerable to herpes'
DAILYMAIL
August 16, 2012
Zap, pluck, wax, shave - the possibilities seem to be endless when it comes to keeping one's hair down there neat and tidy.
But one medical expert has spoken out about the various health risks that come with pubic hair removal.
Family physician Emily Gibson, who also serves as a medical director at Western Washington University in Bellingham, said that removing the hair is like creating 'open wounds' that are prone to infection and even sexually-transmitted disease, such as herpes, if in contact with another person.
Health risks: A medical expert has declared war on pubic hair removal. The family physician claims that it creates 'open wounds' that are vulnerable to infection
She added that men are at risk of infection just as much as women.
In an article she wrote for KevinMD.com, she explained 'that irritation is combined with the warm moist environment of the genitals' and therefore becomes a breeding ground for infection.
The physician pinpointed A streptococcus, which, in extreme cases, can lead to organ failure, and staphylococcus aureus, which can cause pimples and boils as well as far more serious side effects, in particular.
She added that 'freshly-shaved pubic areas and genitals are also more vulnerable to herpes infections due to the microscopic wounds being exposed to virus carried by mouth or genitals'.
'Pubic hair does have a purpose, providing cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury,' she said.
'[Its] removal naturally irritates and inflames the hair follicles left behind, leaving microscopic open wounds.'
The expert said that she has seen cellulitis, a soft tissue bacterial infection, in areas including a man's scrotum and penis.
She compared newly-bare skin to a 'scorched battlefield'.
'No matter what expensive and complex weapons are used - razor blades, electric shavers, tweezers, waxing, depilatories, electrolysis - hair, like crab grass, always grows back and eventually wins,' she wrote in the report.
'In the mean time, the skin suffers the effects of the scorched battlefield,' she continued.
The Independent reported that hair removal cost Americans $2.1billion in 2011 - and the figure was similar in the UK.
Despite the health risks, the physician noted the practice's popularity: 'The amount of time, energy, money and emotion both genders spend on abolishing hair from their genitals is astronomical.
'The genital hair removal industry, including medical professionals who advertise their specialty services to those seeking the 'clean and bare' look, is exponentially growing.'

Named after former U.S. President Bill Clinton, a Ugandan boy who was held by the politician as a baby has met him again, 14 years on.
While he was president, Clinton visited a village in Uganda in 1998 to meet the baby boy named after him because he was born in the same month that the president first arrived in Uganda.
Now a teenager, the Ugandan boy, whose full name is Master Bill Clinton Kaligani, was delighted to meet the former president again last Friday.
The boy was flown to Entebbe, Uganda to have lunch with Clinton and according to AllAfrica.com, Bill had to miss an exam to keep his lunch date with the man he said has had such an impact on his life.
According to Ugandan newspaper Daily Monitor he said: ‘I feel good. He told me he also wanted me to be a doctor, that I should work hard and pass in my studies.’
His mother Betty Namugosa said: ‘(Clinton) was very happy to see the boy. He asked him what he wants and the boy informed him he wants to become a doctor.
‘He promised to look after his “son” in every way.’
Through his foundation, Clinton has supported and set up various initiatives to support education, the provision of hearing aids and averting childhood deaths due to diarrhea.
In April, his wife Hillary Clinton visited South Africa in her capacity as Secretary of State.
She met with foreign minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and the pair hosted a joint press conference where Mrs Clinton said that through the various American-sponsored relief programs, they have been able to save 'hundreds of thousands of lives' in the country.
They also attended a business summit where economic incentives were analysed for possible ways to expand growth in the region.
In keeping with the friendly nature of the visit, Mrs Clinton paid a visit to former South African president Nelson Mandela.

When afflicted with calamities or dishonor, do we ever ask ourselves are WE to blame for our misdeeds?
As in human nature, when we are blessed with the bounties of this world - in wealth, children, honor..., we say we say 'we have been blessed.' But on the flip side, when we are faced with calamities, dishonor and despair in the world, we immediately rush to judge, blame and scratch our heads as to why the bounties are being taken away and squandered. Little do we ever think of OUR actions - are they just? are they halal? am I being proud and arrogant? am I protecting my tongue by not engaging in idle talk, gossip and backbiting? am I being loving and caring to my family and elders? do I betray the trusts and promises of others? do I disrespect my elders, my older brothers, sisters, family...? am I deceiving and tricking the Lord? am I following the commands of Allah and example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)?
In the Holy Quran, Allah says:
"But when Allah tries them (the people) through restricting their means of life, then they
say 'Our Rabb has humiliated us!'
Nay! But you did not treat the orphans with kindness and generosity, nor did you
encourage each other in feeding the poor! You devour inheritance (of the weak) with
greed, and you love wealth with much love!...and hell will be brought near (in sight) that
day (Day of Judgment). On that day people will remember (their deeds), but how the
remembrance will avail them? (Surah Al-Fajr 89:16-23)
So, people, please examine yourselves. Change begins from within. Be beacons of example and hope for humanity. Humanity is at the crossroads and have begun the march to the qiyamah (Day of Judgement). There is still time for change and reflection and importantly the praise of the Lord above, who has created us only for a short while in this world. Please I urge you all to act more kindly to your family, and leave the ignorant idle talk and actions that are of no use to you in this life - they only mask and deceive reality.

Nothing left to be hurt by ...
BY NUSRAT UCHIHA
There`s nothing of me to be hurt anymore, I`ve been torn apart...
I always knew I was supposed to be a curse. I always knew I would fall alone. At the end of the day, no one came to ask me whether I was ok. To some I[`ve] become a lesson and a person they never want to become and to some [a] stranger, and to some just an orphan who can`t do anything right. Now I am that girl. The girl who seemed unbreakable is finally starting to break, the one who seemed so strong is crumbling apart, the one who always laughs it off is constantly crying, the girl who would never give up, finally quit trying. I just wish there was someone who would come and hug me and tell me they are really there, but the only one who did that was Allah. Its true as Allah says, you come alone and you will go alone, I guess keeping all the pain inside is the best I can do.
For those who question why calamities befall them, think about change
Pain doesn`t just show up in our lives for no reason. It`a sign that something in our lives needs to change

What`s your bloodtype? It can NOW affect your heart disease risk
People with blood group O are the safest while AB carry the highest risk

A person’s blood group helps determine their risk of heart disease, a study has found.
Researchers claim almost half of Britons with blood group O, the most common blood type, benefit from some natural protection against the illness.
However, they said people from groups A and B are more at risk, while people from AB, the rarest blood group, are the most vulnerable.
The findings, published in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, are based on an analysis of two large US health and lifestyle studies.
The Harvard University researchers concluded people with blood group AB were 23 per cent more likely to suffer from heart disease.
Group B blood increased the risk by 11 per cent, and type A by 5 per cent.
It is thought people with type O blood may benefit from a substance that is thought to assist blood flow and reduce clotting.
Lead researcher Professor Lu Qi, from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, said ‘While people cannot change their blood type, our findings may help physicians better understand who is at risk for developing heart disease.
‘It’s good to know your blood type the same way you should know your cholesterol or blood pressure numbers.
If you know you’re at higher risk, you can reduce the risk by adopting a healthier lifestyle, such as eating right, exercising and not smoking.’
The study compared blood groups and heart disease incidence but did not analyse the complex biological mechanisms involved.
There is evidence that type A blood is associated with higher levels of ‘bad’ type of cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), which is more likely to fur up the arteries.
AB blood is linked to inflammation, which also plays an important role in artery damage.
People with type O blood may benefit from a substance that is thought to assist blood flow and reduce clotting.
The researchers pointed out the study group was mostly white Caucasian and it is not clear whether the same findings applied to other ethnic groups.
Prof Qi said ‘It would be interesting to study whether people with different blood types respond differently to lifestyle intervention, such as diet.’
Scientists from Pennsylvania University last year found the same gene that causes people to be blood group ‘O’ gives them some protection against heart attack.
But experts warn that while blood type O may offer some protection from heart trouble, blood type alone will not compensate for other factors that are linked to cardiovascular disease.
Other research found blood group O patients may be at greater risk for bleeding and blood transfusions after heart surgery.
Patients with AB blood type are 20 per cent less likely to die after heart bypass surgery than those with A, B or O blood types, said Duke University Medical Center researchers.
Doireann Maddock, Senior Cardiac Nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said ‘While these findings are certainly interesting we’ll need more research to draw any firm conclusions about blood type and its role in heart disease risk.
‘Nobody can influence what type of blood they are born with but a healthy lifestyle is something everybody can have an influence over. Eating healthily, getting active and stopping smoking are the types of things you should be worrying about, not your blood type.’

'Vaginal tightener and whitener' products in India a perverse campaign to discriminate and degrade woman not "empowerment!"
As modern as India may be from its fantasy Bollywood movies, the woman in the conservative society have voiced their opinion and displeasure concerning an Indian company`s new product called '18 Again' - a vaginal tightening and rejuvenation cream designed to be make you 'feel like a virgin again' or to 'feel like the first time." Now this product comes on the heels of another vaginal product introduced in India - a vaginal whitener! This whitener is called the Clean & Dry feminine wash.
Media reports on the '18-Again' product say it is for "a tighter vagina is empowering because 'it's not just about sexual pleasure, but also about preventing infection, discharge, urinary incontinence, and making older women feel good'." But this statement has been called 'hilarious and maddening' by academics.
Both products have garnered condemnation by general people in society as well as the academics. But everyone knows that these products will be sold to woman as a 'health issue' that every woman "should" do. This is how this modern society is, so gullible and quick to conform to the whims of a false illusion of reality and of this world. This society is becoming more and more perverse and will not stop unfortunately as we march towards the end days.
Our desire driven society has succumbed to a sex driven society, a sexed mad society, a society that promotes sex to be only a physical carnal pleasure of the flesh.
India it seems, as become the beacon of insult and discrimination against darker skin tones. These products are a "sad indictment of discrimination against darker skin within the social caste system."
Columnist Laskhmi Chaudry lambasted the product in her blog, writing: 'The campaign to eliminate the scourge of darkness has extended to every nook and cranny of a woman’s body.'
