What makes the 'Happy Birthday' happy?

What makes ‘Happy Birthday’ Happy?

Birthday literary means the day when a person is born. But people don’t celebrate their birthdays just because they reached the same date again of when they were born. Rather what is more important is the month and date both should be same as of the day you was born.

Further, when we celebrate birthday what we actually mean is, we reached the same date and month again, that’s why they celebrate and cut cakes and do all that stuff. But point to be noted is that, it is on our birthdays we announce that we have lived another year – meaning we have crossed another year – meaning we have just lost another year. Remember life is like a chain of pearls, every day, every year your life that you live, you are leaving it behind just like when you drive a vehicle, you leave everything behind and reach your destination.

Then the question arises - if it is on our birthdays that we loose a year of our life, what makes happy birthday – happy?

Allaah (One True God) created human being with an intellect and Qur’aan is for those people who think. No wonder Qur’aan again and again asks you, 'Afalaa tadabbaroon?' – Do you not then ponder? In many places Allaah is asking us in the Glorious Qur’aan as here – 'Afalaa yatadabbaroonal qur’aana am ‘alaa quloobihim aqfaaluhaa?' – "Why don’t you ponder upon Qur’aan, have you hearts and minds been locked?"
